Charlotte County Community Services has announced that several boat ramps, closed due to the battering by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, are now open to the public. Anglers and boaters can launch their vessels at Ainger Creek Park, Butterford Waterway Park, Darst Park, El Jobean Boat Ramp, Harbour Heights Park, Placida Park, and Spring Lake Park. However, the Spring Lake Park boat ramp will close for unrelated repair work starting next Monday.
Those waiting to launch at Lemon Bay Sunrise Rotary Park, Port Charlotte Beach Park, or South Gulf Cove Park will need to wait, as these ramps are closed due to extensive damage and underwater hazards. The Spring Lake Park ramp will be closed for about 60 days once repairs begin next week. For updates on ramp statuses, individuals can contact the Charlotte County Emergency Operations Center or visit the official county website.
Residents and visitors using the open facilities are encouraged to exercise caution and be alert for any potential hazards that may have been missed after the recent storms. As recovery efforts continue, cooperation from the boating community will be important for the smooth reopening of all facilities.
For recovery information, individuals can call 941-833-4000 which are available from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday or access information online.
