The streets of Charlotte will come alive with the sounds and sights of festivity, as the 78th Novant Health Thanksgiving Eve Parade is set to paint the town with holiday spirit; spectators should expect significant road closures and rerouted traffic patterns. WCCB Charlotte reports that Tryon Street, along with a number of cross streets, will be blocked off Wednesday evening, with the festivities scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The parade kicks off at 6 p.m. on North Tryon Street at 9th Street, with the procession bringing more than just floats and bands—it's a collective heave of a community breathing together the sweet airs of tradition and the holiday season, it will then continue along North Tryon Street and culminate at Brooklyn Village Avenue. As per WBTV, no specific seating areas have been set aside for handicapped individuals, hence arriving early, around 4 p.m., is recommended for securing a good viewing spot.
Anticipated to draw over 100,000 participants and spectators, the parade boasts an impressive lineup including five dance groups, five community marching bands, 10 high school and college bands and signers Tyler Rich, Presley Aronson Austin McNeill, Anna Rae, and Krystal King, WBTV notes the start and progress of the parade, which will commence on 9th Street and make its way to Good Samaritan Way via Tryon Street.
Moving to transportation alternatives, those wishing to avoid the hassle of navigating closed streets can utilize nearby LYNX stations, specifically the 7th Street, CTC/Arena, and 3rd Street/Convention Center stations that are conveniently sited along the event's route, parking garages and paid lots will be available, however, each come with varying price points and considering the anticipated influx of attendees, public transportation might be the most hassle-free option to reach the parade festivities, as suggested by WBTV.
Meanwhile, for those who are planning to drive, note that multiple streets like Mint Street and Church Street will see closures intersecting with major thoroughfares such as Trade Street and Carson Boulevard, WCNC details the shutdowns which are expected to affect the Uptown area throughout the afternoon and evening on parade day.
