The Mayor emphasized his administration’s adherence to a vision for transforming public education in Chicago, asserting that the continued presence of Mitchell Johnson on the Board of Education would considerably stall the progress sought. "I want to be clear: antisemitic, misogynistic, and conspiratorial statements are unacceptable," Mayor Johnson stated, candidly articulating the impetus for his stark decision. The statement further read, "It has become clear that his continued participation in the BOE would hinder the important work we need to accomplish for our schools."
