Authorities report the arrest of three individuals on charges including vehicle burglary and identity theft after an investigation into a series of vehicle break-ins in Chino Hills. According to information released by the SBSD Chino Hills Police Department, the incident that led to the arrests occurred earlier this week, at the Post Office on Peyton Drive when a woman returned to her car to find her passenger window broken and her designer purse and wallet missing.
Through diligent investigation, deputies and detectives linked the crime to two suspects, David Bassett, age 44, and Jimmy Griffin, age 36, both residents of Rancho Cucamonga. In a search executed on November 27, under the shadow of suspicion, Angela Desiderato, 42, also of Rancho Cucamonga, was identified as a co-conspirator during the search warrant investigation and taken into custody as well.
As reported by the SBSD Chino Hills Police Department, the search revealed a trove of items believed to be stolen, including numerous purses, credit cards, identification cards, and passports. The recovery of these items suggests that the suspects may have a connection with other unsolved thefts in the area. Following the discoveries, bail enhancements were sought due to the suspects' past criminal activities and the scale of the suspected stolen property recovered.
All three individuals were booked at West Valley Detention Center, facing a list of charges that painted a picture of a prolific crime spree, including vehicle burglary, conspiracy, theft and use of stolen credit cards, fraudulent license plates, possession of stolen property, and identity theft. The Sheriff's Department has urged anyone with details about the incidents to come forward and contact the Chino Hills Police Department at (909) 364-2000 or share information anonymously through the We-Tip Hotline at 1-800-78CRIME.
