A fire in Citrus Heights yesterday morning has resulted in a fatality. Units were dispatched to the scene in the 6200 block of Mariposa Avenue just past 9 a.m., where they discovered evidence of a fire that had burned itself out in a single bedroom. According to abc10, within the room, the remains of an individual were found lying in bed amidst the minimal damage, including a charred blanket and a few other small items.
Officials with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District, investigating the incident, have yet to determine the cause of death or whether it was caused by the fire or predating it. The cause of the fire is still undetermined following this tragic episode, as KCRA reports. The Citrus Heights Police Department is now investigating the circumstances that led up to the fire. The identity of the decedent has not been released.
The officials are urging anyone who might have relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
