Community members interested in learning about infrastructure developments in Vancouver are extended an invitation by Clark County Public Works to an open house, slated for November 19, designed to discuss improvements on Northeast 152nd Avenue. Scheduled construction for 2025 will address the area from Northeast Padden Parkway to Northeast 99th Street, the plan entails a mix of traffic signals, lane expansions, and pedestrian safety features, according to the county's announcement.
The project, which includes installing a traffic-signal controlled intersection and widening Northeast 152nd Avenue, aims to improve traffic flow and safety. Additional measures such as continuous sidewalks, bike lanes, and pedestrian crosswalks with push-button activated flashing beacons will also be introduced. Especially for the students, a new left-turn lane will be added at the north entrance to York Elementary School, much-needed in the bustling mornings.
The upcoming open house event will feature a presentation from 6:30 to 7 p.m. followed by a session for attendees to ask questions. Participants can join in person or through the Webex platform, where they have the option to submit inquiries via chat. Details regarding project design, timeline, expected construction impacts, and more will be shared by staff. According to the project's webpage, refreshments will be available for those attending in person.
Hosted in the commons of Prairie High School, located at 11311 NE 119th Street, the in-person element of the open house seems like an opportunity for direct community engagement. Conversely, for the digitally inclined or those who cannot make the trip, tuning in online is as simple as registering on the project webpage or clicking a soon-to-be-provided link before the event. The same website will post a recording of the presentation and supplemental materials within five business days, ensuring information accessibility for anyone unable to attend. Understanding emerges through community involvement; this open house is a pathway toward it.
