
After over four decades of service in elections administration, Bruce Sherbet has announced his retirement from his current role as Collin County Elections Administrator. Sherbet, whose career spans an impressive 44 years, has become a pillar in the field with a strong commitment to electoral integrity and community service. Collin County's official news release reported that his retirement will be effective by the end of this year on December 31.
In a career that began in 1980, Sherbet moved from serving as a Voter Registration Supervisor to holding the influential position of Elections Administrator for some of Texas's most populous counties. Under his watch, these regions experienced substantial growth and an evolution in their election infrastructure. His accomplishments and commitment have not gone unnoticed, as he once served as the President of the Texas Association of Election Administrators and earned the prestigious Certified Election/Registration Administrator credential.
Respected by his peers, Sherbet shared some parting words reflecting his time with Collin County. "Serving the people of Collin County has been an incredible honor and privilege. Over the past nine years, I have been fortunate to work alongside a team of outstanding professionals and interact with countless engaged citizens," Sherbet said, as quoted by Collin County's official news outlet. Yoon Kim, Collin County Administrator, also spoke highly of Sherbet, emphasizing his leadership's impact on the region. "Bruce is an exceptional Elections Administrator, and Collin County will deeply miss his leadership, experience, and invaluable institutional knowledge," said Kim.
