The City of Colorado Springs has been recognized with a Bronze Military Friendly® Employer designation for the year 2025, an accolade that underscores its commitment to veterans and military families. This acknowledgment comes after a rigorous assessment involving public data analysis and survey responses, wherein the city distinguished itself among more than 1,200 competitors who vied for the Military Friendly® survey.
Informed by the extensive and comprehensive evaluation of the participating institutions, the Military Friendly® Employers designation reflects the City's continuous efforts to support veterans. Having nearly 20% of its workforce comprised of veterans, the City of Colorado Springs not only strives to uphold employment opportunities but also uplifts the entire region, being an active participant in the Employer Roundtable along with pivotal partners such as Colorado Springs Utilities, Deloitte, USAA, and UCHealth, to refine best employment practices for military families.
The City's coalition with these entities also extends its reach to local installations which include Peterson and Schriever Space Force Stations, Fort Carson Army Post, Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, together they devise strategies for addressing military spouse employment issues, facilitating links to jobs, resources, and forging legislative initiatives.
Moreover, the City of Colorado Springs maintains involvement in programs like Hiring our Heroes (HOH) and the Veteran’s Local Government Management Fellowship (VLGMF), the latter offering up to 16 weeks of fellowship for transitioning veterans, and 6-8 weeks for spouses. "We are proud of the City once again earning the designation as a Military Friendly® Employer," Sallie Clark, the City's Senior Advisor for Government & Military Engagement in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs, voiced her pride in an effort that includes shared job fairs and employment functions in the Mayor's Office of Community Affairs, according to the City of Colorado Springs.
The methodology and the criteria used for determining the Military Friendly® designation, as specified by VIQTORY with contributions from the Military Friendly® Advisory Council, extensively inform this initiative. Their independent expertise in the military recruitment space culminated in an organization's survey score being amalgamated with their ability to meet standards across multiple parameters including recruitment, retention, and the progression of veterans and military affiliates within the workplace.
