The Columbus Police Department reported that a juvenile pedestrian was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run incident on Refugee Rd. West of Tennyson Blvd., Columbus. The event occurred last Friday, at approximately 11:08 p.m. when the unnamed juvenile attempted to cross the road outside a marked crosswalk from the north side to the southern end.
According to the Columbus Division of Police's official media release, upon reaching the westbound #2 lane, the juvenile was hit by a Volkswagen traveling in the same direction. Following the collision, the Volkswagen left the scene, continuing westbound on Refugee Rd. and out of the area. Running away from the scene, police sought the driver responsible for the accident.
The Columbus Fire Medic #4 unit hurried to the crash site and took the injured juvenile to Nationwide Children’s Hospital. Upon arrival, the juvenile was reported to be in stable condition. The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is actively investigating the circumstances of the incident and working to uncover further details.
