Early this morning, tragedy struck Stelzer Rd., north of E. 7th Ave, when Ms. Nakia Lawrence was fatally hit by a vehicle. The Columbus Division of Police reported that Lawrence was crossing the road when an unidentified driver struck her at approximately 4:32 am. Sadly, the medic team from Columbus Fire Department, Medic #20, pronounced her dead at the scene just minutes later at 4:44 am, the police confirmed.
According to the official media release by the Columbus Division of Police, the driver involved in the collision fled the area without a trace, traveling in an unknown direction. The Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit is actively investigating the incident and has advised that it is currently underway.
