Following a series of updates concerning a homicide that rocked the Columbus community, the police have apprehended Mekhi Webster, a suspect who had remained elusive since being charged. According to a Columbus Division of Police press release, Columbus SWAT personnel took Webster into custody yesterday, marking a significant development in the investigation that began seven months earlier.
The incident, which first drew the attention of law enforcement on April 14, took place on the 1300 block of E. Hudson Street. Officers dispatched to an unknown complaint discovered Angel Salguero Diaz with a fatal gunshot wound. Despite their efforts and those of the arriving CFD Engine 13 personnel, Diaz was pronounced dead at the scene. This tragic outcome set in motion a thorough investigation, one that initially left Diaz unnamed until the notification of next of kin could occur.
Since the incident, the Columbus Police have been persistently piecing together the events that led to Diaz’s untimely death. The arrest of Mr. Dock Parker on October 24 and the earlier apprehension of Mr. Jaivon Jones on June 27 were pivotal moments that provided both answers and ongoing questions into the murky circumstances surrounding this case. Webster, the third individual charged with one count of Murder, was the final suspect mentioned in the chain of updates, culminating in his recent capture.
