The prolonged search for 16-year-old Cortez McConer from Grand Rapids has come to a heartbreaking conclusion, as his body was discovered in a remote and densely forested area near Rockford. The Grand Rapids Police Department confirmed the discovery yesterday afternoon with Police Chief Eric Winstrom expressing deep condolences and mourning the loss with the community, as reported by WOODTV.
McConer had been missing since October 28, when he and friends fled police in the vicinity of a McDonald’s restaurant in Rockford, thereafter his last confirmed sighting was near Courtland Drive NE and Kies Street NE, this information coming through various outlets including a MLive report, the search efforts continued for three weeks; however, the lead up to the unfortunate discovery had seen extensive search operations by authorities with the aid of dogs and drones especially concentrated along a stretch west of Wolverine Boulevard between 10 Mile Road and Kroes Street.
