A Coral Springs man has been charged with the sexual battery of a woman at a Halloween house party held last month. As reported by TAPinto, Anthony Espin, aged 35, was allegedly identified by both the victim and the homeowner as the individual dressed as a pilot who engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with the victim after she lost consciousness at the event.
According to the victim's account, she left her drink unattended prior to blacking out, and when she later regained consciousness, she found herself being sexually assaulted by a man known as "Tony." The man was then discovered and later identified as Espin—a detail corroborated by the homeowner who observed the encounter and later provided a statement to the authorities. The morning after the incident, Espin was arrested at his home on Thursday last week after evidence from the crime scene, including the victim’s clothing and a bra, was discovered by a cleaning service, which helped to support the charges as noted in a TAPinto report.
Following the incident, the victim was urged by friends to visit the Nancy J. Cotterman Sexual Assault Treatment Center, where she reported the crime to the Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO). "Tony," later confirmed as Espin, was arrested after a warrant was issued due to the victim’s identification of him in a photo lineup; the BSO's investigation uncovered Espin's admission to participating in sexual activity—though he denied any non-consensual behavior while also apologizing for violating the party host's rule against sexual activity on the premises, as per information obtained by Coral Springs Talk.
Espin was arrested and charged with one count of sexual battery after the victim underwent a sexual assault examination and provided additional forensic evidence, including DNA samples. Following his release on bail from Broward County Jail, the case is ongoing.
