The City of Cornelius, in a collaborative effort with Centro Cultural de Washington County and the Washington County Sheriff's Office, is slated to host the Ninth Annual Cornelius Community Dinner. This event, free and open to the public, is anticipated to provide over 400 turkey holiday meals to attendees. No reservations will be needed for those looking to join the feast set this Saturday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Cornelius Elementary School, located at 200 N. 14th Ave, Cornelius, OR 97113.
The annual tradition, which has become a staple of the Cornelius holiday season, wouldn't be possible without the broad support of local businesses and organizations. Among the contributors are Bimbo Bakeries USA, Cornelius Booster Club, and the Cornelius Walmart. These community partners, alongside others like Botten’s Equipment & Event Rental and Reser's Fine Foods, are essential in not only providing the necessary funds but also the manpower to successfully host such an event. Participants will have the chance to not just share a meal but also to engage with local city leaders, law enforcement officers, and fire officials.
In a statement announcing the dinner, Cornelius City Manager Peter Brandom expressed his gratitude for the community's support. "Our annual Community Dinner is one of the highlights of the year, bringing people together to share a meal and connect. It’s also a chance to support those in need, offering a warm meal to those who could really use it. We are grateful to all of our community partners and businesses, without whom this important event would not be possible," Brandom said. The Washington County official statement emphasized the event's role in fostering community spirit and support.
