To renew its superstructure, the project aims for a thorough replacement aligned with its current trajectory, coupled with an enhanced substructure and a more durable, reinforced concrete deck. Safety is paramount, and the department has laid out plans for a fully coordinated and structured closure of the road, welcoming a seamless, uninterrupted pour of the concrete, which will demand a temporary reclamation of nearby rights-of-way, yielding to a detour that snakes over a 4.2-mile expanse, with traffic redirected from Lee Road to Libby Road to Broadway Avenue until finally looping back via McCracken Road.
As officials mentioned, concerns raised by the potential environmental impacts, primarily on the Mill Creek ecosystem, are minimal yet notable. The construction is set to commence in the frost-laden months of 2025, with the anticipated duration stretching across the expanse of a year—an undertaking of no small proportion.
