Dallas' furry friends are set for a busy holiday season, according to the latest Dallas Animal Services (DAS) Volunteer Newsletter. DAS dog Zeus (A1228467) emerged victorious in the "Cozy Cuddler" photo challenge, shining among his adorable competitors. Seeking to harness this momentum, DAS has announced its "Biggest Smile" photo challenge to showcase the cheerful grins of its canine residents.
Dog lovers and volunteers are invited to a festive mix of cheer at the Volunteer Holiday Party on Friday, December 13, at White Rock Alehouse. Friends of DAS are generously offering drink tickets, food, and raffle prizes to reward commitment to animal well-being. Commitment to comfort by December 6 is requested, with additional details available through the attendance RSVP link.
A new volunteer opportunity beckons for night owls who wish to assist canines during their first leg of the journey to adoptive homes. According to the City of Dallas, beginning on November 17th, the "Canine Concierge" will enable volunteers to work hands-on with dogs, preparing for transport to partner shelters nationwide. This program seeks to ensure animals start their journeys right, from walks to crate preps, and assist in their handover to the skies on their way to forever homes.
On a lighter note, the DAS is gearing up for "Moonlight Muttness," an adoption event set to extend its hours on November 23rd to cater to nighttime adopters. Promising an array of aid stations from Meet & Greets to kennel maintenance, this event aims to celebrate the animals in their care and place them in loving homes. Volunteers eager to contribute to the event's success—and possibly receive partial training to engage with potential adopters confidently—can sign up for both day and evening shifts through the DAS website.
