The holiday season takes shape in Dallas with the towering tradition of a 95-foot Christmas tree inside Galleria Dallas. On Monday, crews undertook the monumental task of erecting the tallest indoor Christmas tree in the country. "It takes 50 of Santa’s best elves over four days to put it all together. We have over 700 branches. Each of those branches is essentially a three- to five-foot Christmas tree on its own," Holly Quartaro, Galleria Dallas Fashion and Lifestyle Director, stated, as per WFAA.
Open to visitors until Jan. 6, the tree's assembly is just one facet of the holiday festivities in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. While Galleria Dallas dazzles with its indoor spectacle, an Oregon forest-contributed tree will stand proudly in Grapevine, earning it the title of Christmas Capital of Texas. Elizabeth Schrack, Visit Grapevine director of communications, remarked on the early preparation efforts, "We are so excited for the Christmas Capital of Texas to get underway in just a few weeks, 1,400 events in over 40 days," as reported by WFAA.
When finished, the tree at the Galleria will not only be a sight for sore eyes but also a structural marvel. According to FOX 4 News, the installation involves setting up a steel frame weighing around 5 tons and meticulously attaching 700 branches. The tree's size easily overshadows a standard home Christmas tree, and locals and tourists alike can witness the grandeur until the season's end.
Amidst the excitement, safety is paramount. Grapevine additionally beckons with its 36th annual Carol of Lights scheduled from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 25, and Galleria Dallas will ignite holiday spirits with its annual grand tree-lighting celebration on Black Friday, Nov. 29, and Nov. 30, a tradition for many families to enjoy.
