The Department of Adult Correction has announced the promotion of David McCarthy to Judicial District Manager for Judicial District 2, effective on Monday. In this role, McCarthy will oversee Community Supervision across five counties in eastern North Carolina: Beaufort, Hyde, Martin, Tyrrell, and Washington, according to the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
Todd Ishee, Secretary for the Department of Adult Correction, expressed confidence in McCarthy’s ability to take on the role of Judicial District Manager. “His dedication and commitment to Community Supervision have prepared him well,” Ishee said in a statement. Tracy K. Lee, Deputy Secretary for Community Supervision, also praised McCarthy’s experience and skills, noting, “They exemplify our department’s mission of helping maintain community safety and making positive changes in the lives of those we supervise,” as stated by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
David McCarthy began his career with the Department of Adult Correction in 2005 as a Correctional Behavioral Specialist and has since held various roles, including leading the Apprehend, Capture, and Enforce team in Pitt County since 2021. He has been involved in the Pitt County Domestic Violence Fatality Review Team and received the NCDPS Badge of Excellence for Public Service in 2022. A graduate of Western Carolina University, McCarthy’s experience is focused on rehabilitation and community safety. "I am very pleased to promote David McCarthy," said Lee, regarding McCarthy’s new role in the Community Supervision program in Judicial District 2, as reported by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction.
