As winter sets in, DeKalb County has opened four warming centers from today through Friday, starting at 8 p.m., to help residents stay safe during the cold temperatures. These centers offer a refuge from the harsh weather conditions, very well becoming a lifeline for those in need, according to DeKalb County's official website.
Particularly, Frontline Response International, located at 2585 Gresham Road in Atlanta, will be a hub of assistance, providing not only shelter but also essential services like hot meals, beds, and case management. Access to this centralized care is a cornerstone of DeKalb County's efforts to adequately respond to and fully support its residents during these critical times when the mercury falls.
It's noted that fire stations will not serve as overnight warming station locations this year. Nevertheless, the Avondale Fire Station No. 3, situated at 100 N. Clarendon Avenue, Avondale Estates, will remain active as a transportation pickup point to the Frontline facility for those seeking its comprehensive offerings. Other pickup points throughout the county have been arranged before the centers open, according to a schedule publicly shared by county officials.
For residents who require homelessness assistance or housing services outside of these immediate measures, DeKalb County has a system in place. By calling (404) 687-3500, individuals can get in touch with the DeKalb County Coordinated Entry, a program aimed to directly tackle the complexities and challenges faced by the most vulnerable members of the community.
