As the winter chill sets in, DeKalb County steps up to support its residents facing the cold. Starting today through Tuesday four warming centers will open their doors at 8 p.m. each night, offering respite from the biting temperatures. Official confirmation has come from the county, which urges those in need to find shelter at the available locations.

One standout facility, Frontline Response International, situated at 2585 Gresham Road in Atlanta, serves as more than just a warming center. Offering hot meals, comfy beds, and case management services, it stands as a beacon for those seeking thorough care during harsh weather conditions. In a bid to facilitate access to these centers, transportation will make rounds at several pickup points, including the Chamblee Library and the Mason Mill Recreation Center, at times ranging from 5:40 p.m. to 9 p.m.

While other sites like North DeKalb Senior/Community Center and Exchange Recreation Center stand ready to welcome residents, they are also points of transit for those who need to reach Frontline International's more comprehensive services. With Frontline under contract to assist during extreme weather, it centralizes DeKalb County’s efforts to aid its vulnerable population during this critical period.

For those needing transportation to Frontline, Avondale Fire Station No. 3 is available, but it will not serve as a warming center. This year, fire stations are not included as warming centers. Those needing homelessness or housing services can contact DeKalb County Coordinated Entry at (404) 687-3500.

DeKalb County is responding to the needs of residents facing the cold with warming centers and transportation services. Full details are available on the DeKalb County website
