Westminster Police swiftly apprehended 31-year-old Denver resident Jeremiah Samuel Mullins following an attempted abduction of a 14-year-old girl on Oct. 25, as she was en route to school. As reported by Denver7, the arrest occurred without incident on the 12000 block of N. Melody Drive, where authorities also recovered a black handgun.
After a more thorough investigation into the suspect's activities, Mullins was found to be potentially involved in a string of other criminal offenses. According to KDVR, the subsequent charges filed by the 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office on Nov. 1 included aggravated robbery, kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and possession of a weapon by a previous defender.
In a move intended to safeguard the probing of these incidents, the Westminster Police delayed the public announcement of the arrest until they could ensure the integrity of their investigation was intact. This strategy was detailed by 9NEWS, which also reported on Mullins' criminal background revealing he was on parole, having been sentenced to 12 years after a 2019 aggravated robbery conviction.
Scrutiny of Mullins' past underlines a plea deal from the aforementioned conviction, wherein charges of second-degree kidnapping were dismissed. Despite previous leniency, the judge in the latest case set a cash-only bond of $1 million, highlighting the severity of the current allegations against the individual in question.
