The Five Points Center for Active Adults is hosting a crafting workshop on Dec. 4 from 1 to 4 p.m. Participants can create Kimekomi trees, a Japanese craft involving fabric-covered Styrofoam with carved patterns, according to the City of Raleigh website.
Kimekomi is a technique originally used for doll-making that now includes various decorative items. At the workshop, attendees will create their own trees by tucking and gluing fabric into cuts and decorating with ribbons and beads, all while enjoying the festive season with others.
The event is open to adults 18 and older, with a cost of $19 for residents and $34 for non-residents. For more details and to register, visit the Raleigh Parks and Recreation page.
