A man, reported to be a Dodger fan, fell from the third floor of a building during the World Series victory celebration in downtown L.A. The incident, occurring near the intersection of 8th and Flower streets around 1:30 p.m., prompted an immediate response from emergency services, as per KTLA 5 News.
While the Dodgers were marking their eighth World Series title with a parade and rally, video footage showed bystanders tending to the injured man, who was wearing a Dodgers jacket, lying on the pavement, bloodied, just as police officers established a perimeter to manage the situation. Witnesses at the scene described seeing the man moving slightly and breathing in spite of the significant amount of blood, according to KTLA 5 News.
The Los Angeles Police Department informed FOX 11 that the man involved was "engaged in graffiti related activity" before the fall occurred. Priscialla Flaherty, a witness, recounted hearing a young boy crying out that the injured man was his father, adding further emotional weight to the distressing scene. SkyFOX's footage captured the difficulty paramedics faced while navigating through the dense crowd to reach the injured man, who appeared to have suffered head trauma.
In the aftermath of the celebration’s jubilant kickoff, scenes of jubilation gave way to disorder, with some individuals throwing rocks and bottles and clashing with officers. Responding to the chaos, the Los Angeles Police Department was forced to order the remaining crowd to disperse. Later, a person was taken into custody near Figueroa Street and Olympic Boulevard for hurling a bottle at law enforcement officers, which was declared by the LAPD, as reported by FOX 11.
The man's current condition remains critical as conveyed by CBS News Los Angeles. Following the incident, firefighters rushed the victim, found within a hostile crowd, to a local hospital. The LAPD mentioned that they had to use multiple resources to secure the scene and facilitate the safe arrival of the Los Angeles Fire Department crews to provide aid to the fallen man.
