On the morning of November 4th, Boston Police Officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested a Dorchester man on charges of trespassing and possession of drugs in the proximity of a local school. According to a release by the Boston Police Department, the individual, identified as 25-year-old Ezequiel Rodriguez, was apprehended following a person with a gun call near the Joseph Lee School on Talbot Ave, Dorchester.
The action commenced when officers were dispatched to the scene after reports indicated that individuals were seen outside the school potentially armed. Upon arrival, officers spotted three males; as they approached on foot, one male began to rapidly walk towards them while the other two fled in the opposite direction. The officers gave chase only to eventually lose sight of the suspects. A police K9 unit named Buddy was then requested to assist in the search.
In the course of the pursuit, the K9 unit indicated towards a bush on school property, leading to the discovery of a firearm. Described as a Glock 26, it was equipped with a single 9mm round in the chamber and a large-capacity magazine holding thirty-nine additional rounds. Meanwhile, Rodriguez, who was first spotted searching the ground around the school, was questioned by officers and released after it was determined he was unarmed. However, his respite was short-lived.
Subsequent to being let go, Rodriguez was noticed exiting a residence on Helen St. with a backpack previously not seen in his possession. When officers stopped to investigate further, they found him once again trespassing and discovered eight Xanax bars inside a sandwich bag in his backpack. Rodriguez was then taken into custody, and according to the Boston Police, he is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court for the charges of Trespassing and Possession of a Class C Drug.
