In East Lansing, a chilling discovery was made on November 7 when local police found the remains of two individuals inside a freezer at a home in the 1500 block of Wintercrest Street. The East Lansing Police Department (ELPD) stated it is currently investigating the incident as a double homicide, according to information detailed by FOX17.
Officials from ELPD initially arrived on the scene following a report of a 'suspicious situation' which turned out to be a grim scene with human remains and blood on the property. Since the onset of the investigation, a 'person of interest' was identified. However, this individual is now deceased. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding the death of the person of interest, added the ELPD, as reported by Lansing State Journal.
While the ELPD has not released any specifics regarding the identity of the person of interest or if the deceased person was among those found in the freezer, the department's commitment to processing evidence thoroughly and identifying the victims is ongoing. In collaboration with the Michigan State Police Crime Lab and the Ingham County Medical Examiner's Office, they urge the community to offer any helpful information.
Residents who need information about the case are urged to contact Detective Sgt. Nicole Mitchell at (517) 319-6876 or Detective Jason Cotton at (517) 319-6842. As of November 8, no arrests have been made, but East Lansing Police believe there is no ongoing threat to the public, prioritizing community safety and awareness.
