The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office has apprehended a man with a history of felony convictions following the discovery of stolen goods during a routine traffic stop. According to WFLA, 34-year-old Justin Reeves, who was recently released from prison, was initially pulled over for a traffic violation yesterday in Dover.
During the stop, Reeves was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. A subsequent search of his vehicle uncovered heavy bags containing large quantities of silver coins and silver bars. As reported by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, detectives were able to trace these items back to a recent burglary involving an elderly resident who was away from their home.
This discovery led to the search of Reeves' residence, where authorities located additional stolen property. "Thanks to excellent investigative work by our units, we were able to return stolen property to its rightful owners," said Sheriff Chad Chronister in a statement obtained by WFLA. Reeves is now facing multiple charges, including armed burglary of a dwelling and grand theft.
Earlier in the investigation, detectives responded to a burglary report from the 2100 block of Herndon Street in Dover, where three firearms were reported stolen. FOX 13 News reported that Reeves was identified as a suspect in this case. Two of the stolen firearms, along with more coins and silver bars, were found at his residence. Reeves has been charged with nine different counts in relation to the recent incidents, marking yet another chapter in his extensive criminal history.
