It was reported that Janas was traveling westbound when he came upon the dog and, in the process of avoiding it, lost control of his vehicle.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office stated, in a detail obtained by FOX 26 Houston, that Janas either hit the dog or was attempting to circumvent another dog that had previously been hit. This resulted in his vehicle overturning after striking an a utility pole along the 13400 block of FM 529. Tragically, EMS pronounced Janas dead at the scene of the accident and an investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of the crash.

Simultaneously, another layer to this event was uncovered when authorities reported that two other drivers had breached the road block established for the crash investigation. These individuals are now subject to an investigation for potentially driving while under the influence.
