A tragic turn of events unfolded in Orange County yesterday afternoon as a 22-year-old driver from Orlando lost his life when his vehicle struck a concrete pole on Pine Hills Road near Dolores Drive. A passenger in the car was critically injured in the incident, as reported by ClickOrlando. Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to the scene, where they found an Infiniti Q50 had veered off the roadway before the fatal collision.
Details provided by the official crash report and obtained by ClickOrlando assert the vehicle was traveling southbound on Pine Hills Road and was above the posted speed limit. This led to the driver losing control, running off the road, and crashing into the pole. It was a scenario that seemed all too common on the road stretches that threaded our cities together. The driver and the 22-year-old passenger, whose identities have not been disclosed, were rushed to ORMC with grave injuries. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of medical staff, the driver succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Concurrently, a separate account of the crash by WFTV revealed that while the vehicle had indeed crashed into a concrete pole, their report confirmed that the driver was operating the car within the posted speed limits before losing control.
FHP has yet to release additional details regarding the findings of their investigation.
