Pending an influx of heavy machinery and the thunder of demolition, the streets of Duluth adjust to the dance of progress as the city braces for a significant structural transition. According to a social media post from the City of Duluth, MN Government, E Fourth Street will shut down temporarily between N Fourth Avenue East and N Fifth Avenue East, due to the impending delivery of a crane. This closure, related specifically to the delivery on November 22, is anticipated to last a mere single day.
As the week unfolds, expect further revisions to the roads beginning Monday, November 25. While Third Street between Third Avenue E and N Fifth Avenue E will be left to feel the impact of St. Mary’s Hospital demolition, a stretch between N Third Avenue E and Fourth Avenue E will adopt a new temporary persona, signed for traffic flowing both ways, as detailed by the City of Duluth. But access to Essentia’s Green Ramp remains assured, accessible from N Fifth Avenue E despite the nearby Third Street closure.
N Fourth Avenue E will be closed between E Third Street and E Fourth Street for approximately four weeks. Drivers are urged to stay alert and reduce their speeds. Traffic signs will guide vehicles along a designated detour route, with details available to the public, the City of Duluth noted.
