Cleary Lake Regional Park is hosting a kicksledding event on Sunday, December 8, offering a chance to experience this traditional Nordic activity. The event combines winter fun with a bit of cultural history, inviting visitors to enjoy a hands-on adventure in a snowy setting.
The program, dubbed "Hands-on History: Kicksledding," caters to all ages, ensuring that everyone from the young ones to the young at heart can partake in the festivities. As reported by Scott County, attendees will have a chance to enjoy a kicksledding lesson—complete with a fireside history talk from a Three Rivers historical interpreter. With sessions available from 10 – 11:30 AM or 1:30 – 3 PM, visitors can choose their preferred slot to learn about the Scandinavian sled's origins before scooting around the groomed courses.
If the cold gets too much, a warm fire and complimentary hot chocolate will keep you cozy. Kicksleds are provided, so no need to bring your own gear. The cost is $6 per person, and reservations are required by December 4, as detailed by the Scott County. Groups of four or more can enjoy a 20% discount. To reserve, call 763-559-6700.
"This program is open to all ages and children 11 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult," as stated by Scott County.
