Yesterday, Sean Rivera, a 30-year-old Falls Township resident, admitted guilt for the April 2023 murder of his mother, leading to a life sentence without the possibility of parole. Rivera's chilling method of operation entailed poisoning 72-year-old Carol J. Clark with fentanyl-laced iced tea, transporting her to Philadelphia, and fatally shooting her before lockdown a shed containing her body.
Rivera stood before Common Pleas Judge Stephen A. Corr and entered multiple pleas, including second-degree murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, and various other charges related to the weapons and drugs involved in the crime. “The facts of this case are horrific,” according to Judge Corr, as reported by Buck County's official statement.
In accordance with the guilty plea, Rivera received a concurrent sentence of 28 to 56 years for charges aside from the murder, with the additional mandate of a mental health and substance abuse evaluation; he is also to have no contact with any remaining family members. Details on the case and sentencing have been made public through an official statement by the Bucks County government's website.
