A Fayette County woman is facing homicide charges related to the death of her boyfriend's 2-year-old son, who succumbed to severe physical trauma while under her care. Brianna Bloyer, aged 30, has been accused of causing the injuries that led to the toddler Bentlee Myers's death at a Lake Lynn residence in Springhill Township, the Fayette County District Attorney revealed today.
The child was found unconscious with visible bruises at the residence on August 16, according to the criminal complaint. Despite the grave condition of the boy, who showed no signs of breathing, Bloyer reportedly failed to contact emergency services. The 2-year-old was subsequently transported to a hospital, where doctors ascertained that he was brain dead, and he passed away on August 19 due to cardiac arrest by head trauma, as reported by CBS News Pittsburgh.
Investigators discovered through a phone search that Bloyer had looked up "how to get someone to come to when you pass out" on the day of the incident. Earlier searches on her phone included troubling inquiries such as, "why am I so much more angry while pregnant" and queries for quick remedies for fading bruises. Authorities confirmed that there was no attempt to place an emergency call the day Bentlee was found unresponsive, WPXI reported.
The boy's father, unaware of the source of his son's injuries, encountered them for the first time at the hospital and recalled seeing Bloyer manifest frustration with the toddler previously. Police scheduled an interview with Bloyer in September, yet she failed to appear. Tracking showed that her vehicle was later spotted in Indiana and Arizona, heightening the investigatory complexities.
