A brush fire ignited near Marine Park's golf course in Brooklyn this morning, according to the FDNY. The flames erupted around 9:45 a.m. near Flatbush Avenue and Avenue V, prompting a response from the city's emergency services. The FDNY dispatched three units, including the specialized brush fire team, totaling 20 firefighters to combat the blaze near the 18th hole by Mill Creek, reported News 12 Brooklyn.

Battalion 33 fire chief Brian Gomoka told News 12 Brooklyn that this was not an isolated event, acknowledging the role the recent drought has played in increasing fire risks in the area. “Unfortunately with the many weeks of no rain this has become a common occurrence in this area," Gomoka said. The fire was quickly contained, serving as the latest in a series of similar incidents over the past week.

PIX11 further reported on the impact the fire had on local conditions, noting that New York City Emergency Management issued warnings regarding smoke and potential traffic delays. Residents have been advised to keep their windows closed if they are in proximity to the fire to prevent smoke inhalation.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the fire, which officials are still investigating to determine its cause.
