The Christmas Village in Philadelphia will be back from November 28 to December 24, with a Preview Weekend running from tomorrow through Sunday. The German-style open-air market will offer holiday activities and shopping, all detailed in the City of Philadelphia announcement released earlier.
Now in its 17th year, the Christmas Village is expanding its reach, the kids wonderland has seen an upgrade promising even more joy to younger visitors, beer garden aficionados can enjoy a larger space to unwind amidst seasonal ales, and those with a penchant for plant-based cuisine will find new options at the vegan booth, which signifies a nod to dietary diversity. While admission remains free, food, drinks, and items from the 120 vendors are priced on individual consumption and desire to purchase.
This year’s Christmas Village brings back crowd favorites like the double-decker carousel, Ferris wheel, and kids train. Visitors can also enjoy traditional winter drinks such as Glühwein, hot chocolate, and apple cider. For an authentic German beer garden experience, "The Alm" returns as a lively spot to gather and celebrate.
Phil the Reindeer will greet guests starting tomorrow, and Santa set up his house on December 6, available for photo ops and to spread holiday cheer up until Christmas Eve, according to the official announcement. Extra fun awaits during Family Weekend on December 7-8, while Thirsty Thursday returns on December 5, 12, and 19 for those looking to enjoy drinks. Additionally, a special celebration of German-American heritage will take place on December 14-15.
