The spirit of giving is in the air as First Lady Casey DeSantis launches the second annual 'Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive.' This seasonal initiative is once again dedicated to bringing smiles to foster children, participants of Hope Florida, and other families in need during the festive period, according to the Executive Office of the Governor announcement made yesterday.
Donations for the campaign will be accepted up until December 13, through the initiative's website where patrons can contribute by purchasing new and unwrapped toys intended for direct delivery to Hope Florida. "Every child should get to experience the joy of opening a present on Christmas day," the First Lady was quoted, in her intent to ensure that the season stays magical for the less fortunate.
The initiative, spearheaded by the First Lady, is facilitated by the cooperative efforts of various state agencies working in unison to help support foster and vulnerable families. Shevaun Harris, Secretary of the Department of Children and Families, acknowledged the First Lady’s commitment, "We are appreciative of the First Lady’s commitment and dedication to meet the needs of our State’s vulnerable families," acknowledging the positive impact the drive aims to impart, as per the Executive Office of the Governor.
First Lady DeSantis has tasked state agencies and Floridians alike to contribute however possible, to aid foster families, and caregivers through these efforts. Indeed, in cooperation with Hope Florida, the 'Hope for the Holidays Toy Drive' is a vessel to ferry a bit more hope to Florida’s children this holiday season.
