Early yesterday morning, a group of teens were involved in a vehicle rollover on Oahu's windward side. According to KHON2, five teens faced a harrowing incident when their vehicle overturned in Kailua, leading to a temporary closure of Kalanianaole Highway.
The accident, which occurred near Auloa Road, necessitated a response from Honolulu Emergency Medical Services. KITV reports that individuals involved included a 17-year-old boy and two 16-year-old girls, taken to a trauma hospital in serious condition. Attempts to quickly provide aid were made by first responders, who had to carefully navigate the scene.
Additionally, an 18-year-old male and another 16-year-old girl were reportedly transported in stable condition to an area hospital. The young adults' names and the details leading up to the accident have not been disclosed at this time.
After officials managed the aftermath, the town-bound lanes of Kalanianaole Highway, which had been closed, have now reopened. Local authorities plan further investigations to determine the cause of the accident.
