A one-vehicle accident on Sage Road led to the tragic death of a Foley man, according to the Morrison County Sheriff's Office. The incident, which occurred approximately five miles south of Hillman, MN in Mount Morris Township on the evening of November 16, claimed the life of 64-year-old Robert Rothfork.
Rothfork was traveling southbound when his vehicle departed the roadway and ended up in a ditch. Upon arrival of emergency services, he was found unresponsive and not breathing. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the responders, which successfully restored a pulse on-site, Rothfork later succumbed to his injuries after being airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital by Life Link III.
Morrison County Sheriff Larsen recognized the swift actions of the emergency teams. "Sheriff Larsen states that this was a tragic accident for everyone involved. Emergency responders acted swiftly and performed life-saving measures," a report from the sheriff’s office disclosed. These measures, though initially seeming to hold a glimmer of hope, were ultimately not enough to save Rothfork.
The Morrison County Sheriff's Office was joined on scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Pierz Fire Department, MLMB First Response Team, and the Mayo Clinic Ambulance. The collaborative effort among the various agencies underscores the commitment to public service and the profound challenges such responders face in the wake of motor vehicle accidents.
