Two single mothers in Clayton County received a life-changing surprise just before the holiday season. Warrick Dunn, a former Atlanta Falcons player, teamed up with Southern Crescent Habitat for Humanity to provide the women with homes, as reported by FOX 5 Atlanta.
Each of the mothers received $5,000 from Warrick Dunn's charity to help with their new homes. The charity also provided $10,000 worth of furniture from Aaron's. Beverly Puckett, one of the recipients, had been living with her son in her parents' house for four years. This new home is a big change for them. Dunn’s charity supports homeownership as a way to create stability. Puckett shared, "It is the biggest blessing. Not to have to worry about literally anything this week. All I have to move is my clothes and I can cook my Thanksgiving dinner here and it’s just been amazing," told Atlanta News First
Warrick Dunn Charities recently gave away two homes, bringing the total to 234. The homes, provided just before Thanksgiving, are fully furnished to help families get a fresh start. Warrick Dunn said, "Most families go back into debt when they have to now be purchasing a home and now, you have to fully furnish it. I mean, we want people to have a true fresh start to homeownership and that’s really supplying all the things that they need," according to Atlanta News First.
