The City of Fort Lauderdale has announced a new infrastructure project aimed at upgrading its stormwater system along Galt Ocean Drive. According to a City of Fort Lauderdale statement, repairs will commence the week of December 2, with David Mancini & Sons, Inc. enlisted for the operation. In an effort intended to mitigate future water management issues, the city will replace approximately 350 feet of 36-inch stormwater pipeline and attend to necessary repairs on associated structures.
Residents should expect some disruption due to asphalt restoration work near Galt Ocean Drive and NE 35th Street. The work will take place at night, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Monday through Friday, to minimize daytime impact. Some work may also occur during the day. The schedule is tentative and depends on weather and other factors.
The project is slated for completion by January 2025, seeming to promise a brisk pace for the essential infrastructure enhancement. Traffic will inevitably feel the pinch during this period, as southbound lanes on Galt Ocean Drive will undergo partial closures. Traffic control personnel will be onsite steering vehicles and motorists are urged to heed posted signs and exercise caution through the construction zone.
Residents are asked to be patient as the city upgrades its stormwater system. While the closures may cause temporary inconvenience, they are part of building a more resilient Fort Lauderdale.
