As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, Fort Worth residents can take a sigh of relief knowing their festive surplus trash won't be left to overflow. The City is stepping up to accommodate increased waste with no additional fee, allowing households to set out two extra bags of garbage post-holiday celebrations. "All residents are allowed two extra bags of garbage on their first pickup day following Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day," reports the City of Fort Worth on its website.
However, those extra bags will need to patiently wait to be collected on a schedule shifted by the holiday. Thursday's trash collection is pushed to Friday and Friday's service will occur on Saturday. The City Mission is set to ensure that residents have the services they need to quickly return to normalcy despite the holiday, with no change to Monday through Wednesday collections.
In cases where pickup timing seems out of sync, residents should note that separate trucks will be handling the extra bags and may arrive at different times than the garbage carts. "Extra bags will be collected by a separate truck on your collection day, and may be picked up at different times than your carts," advises the City of Fort Worth.
