Fulton County is set to improve its community services with the construction of a new South Fulton Training Center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The center will provide vocational and life training, therapeutic sessions, and life enrichment services tailored to clients' unique needs, according to a Fulton County announcement.
The facility, which held its construction kickoff on Tuesday, aims to provide local families with access to affordable, high-quality care. Funded by $3,655,925 from FCURA bonds and the Fulton County General Fund, the project will transform a former behavioral health facility into a modern space. It will include a computer lab, a specially designed sensory room, a nursing station, and other resources.
Long-anticipated by the community, Fulton County officials view the center as a symbol of progress and inclusion for South Fulton residents. "Fulton County’s new South Fulton Training Center is an investment in the wellbeing of our residents," said Chairman Robb Pitts in the Fulton County release. Vice Chair Khadijah Abdur-Rahman added, "The new South Fulton Training Center is more than a building—it’s a testament to our commitment to being South Strong. It represents progress, inclusion, and a brighter future for our families and individuals with developmental disabilities here in South Fulton."
The project aims to provide community support with the anticipated opening of the new South Fulton Training Center by the summer of 2025.
