Over 90 members from North Texas gathered as the Garland Police Department hosted a Regional Citizen Police Academy Alumni meeting. The event, aimed at enhancing community relations and public safety knowledge, featured a presentation by the department's Hall of Fame, multi-award-winning Detective Tony Godwin. The focus of the meeting was directed toward understanding and combating Internet crimes against children, a pressing issue that continues to emerge as a digital dilemma in today's society.
With years of expertise behind him, Detective Godwin shared a powerful case study from his extensive work in the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit. As part of his presentation, attendees were drawn into the serious nature of online threats targeting the young and impressionable.
Local citizens and parents were urged to pay more attention to their children's online activities. The Garland Police Department, supported by Detective Godwin's case study, emphasized the shared responsibility of protecting kids from the dangers of the internet.
