Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a shooting in Garland, which police believe involved former students of South Garland High School. The arrests were made following a pursuit that ended in a car crash on Interstate 30. The Garland Police Department took to social media to publicly announce their apprehension of the suspects involved in the incident that sent shockwaves through the community on Wednesday.
The chain of events initially began with a physical altercation at a restaurant, which escalated to a car chase and the firing of a gun in a shopping center parking lot. No injuries were reported following the incident. To straightforwardly apprehend the suspects, Mesquite Police located the suspect vehicle—a white Nissan Sentra—yesterday and attempted to conduct a traffic stop that quickly turned into a brief chase. According to the Garland Police Department's update, the pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed near Jim Miller Road.
Identified among the individuals was a 15-year-old Hispanic male juvenile and 17-year-old Anthony De Los Santos. The juvenile is currently facing two counts of Deadly Conduct, Tampering with a Witness, and Evading Arrest. De Los Santos is facing charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, two counts of Deadly Conduct, Tampering with a Witness, and Evading Arrest. As of now, no bonds have been set for the suspects.
