The quiet of an Antioch neighborhood was pierced by gunfire yesterday as residents reported a shootout at a local car wash. According to WSMV, multiple calls came into emergency services around 3 p.m. describing the sound of a dozen gunshots on Bell Road. It is a disquieting occurrence that resident Jeremy Hall described hearing while walking his rabbit, momentarily mistaking the disturbance for firecrackers before realizing its true source.
Hall, as per WSMV, recalled the unsettling sequence of events, "All of a sudden I just heard this noise, and it was hard to explain it, like a firecracker," before learning that it stemmed from an exchange of gunfire between two vehicles in the Dirty Car Wash parking lot, an establishment just across the street from his home. This latest episode of violence has left many, including Hall, feeling "a bit on edge," an alarming testament to the frequency of such incidents in the area where identifying the origin of such sounds has become an unwelcome norm. Metro Police confirmed two individuals shot at each other from a Dodge and a Jeep and while the people in the vicinity scrambled to safety, one of the shooters was hit by a bullet.
The aftermath brought about an immediate investigation by metro officers. NewsChannel5 reports that a shooting victim believed to be associated with the Jeep involved in the incident, sought treatment at Southern Hills Medical Center, and that vehicle was subsequently secured at the hospital by the authorities. The specifics of the skirmish remained hazy, but the quick response from local police ensured that the injured individual received timely medical attention.
Bell Road's recent shooting continues to be under active investigation, with more details yet to come to light. A spokesperson for the Metro Nashville Police Department disclosed to WKRN that the person who was shot seemed to be stable after having arrived at TriStar Southern Hills Medical Center as a "walk-in".
