Following an intensive investigation sparked by a September shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old, Haltom City Police, in collaboration with the Fort Worth Police Department and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, have apprehended two suspects. According to a social media post by the Haltom City Police Department, the suspects, both 21, were taken into custody following persistent tracking and the development of leads from a blurry initial image of their vehicle.
The first suspect, Jasue "Josue" Moreno, was arrested last Friday at his place of employment. He is facing several charges including Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence. A few days later, on Tuesday, suspect Juan Perez was also taken into custody. The arrest, aided by the U.S. Marshals, led to charges of Murder and Aggravated Assault Deadly Weapon being filed against the 21-year-old.
Under the Texas Penal Code, a first-degree felony charge of Murder could result in a life sentence, or up to 99 years in prison, while the second-degree felony of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon carries a potential 20-year sentence. Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, a third-degree felony, could mean up to a decade behind bars.
