Two Harris County parents are facing charges after deputies found their four children left home alone in what was described as a dirty and disorganized environment. Evan Gyuricza, 34, and Misty Broadway, 32, went to drink at a bar, neglecting their young children for several hours. According to Click2Houston, the couple was arrested yesterday and charged with child endangerment.
The Precinct 4 Constable's Office initially responded to an incident on Grant Road involving an assault between Gyuricza and Broadway. As reported by FOX 26 Houston, the ages of the children have not been released, but they were noted to be uninjured despite the hazardous state of their home.
"The children were found to be uninjured, but the home appeared dirty and in disarray with no precautions taken to ensure their safety and well-being," said Constable Mark Herman, in a statement obtained by Click2Houston. Constable Herman's remarks highlighted concerns about the state's neglect and the lack of basic safety measures in place to protect the children.
About the couple's legal history, it came to light that Gyuricza was previously involved in a domestic dispute with Broadway back on Sept. 20. This altercation led to a protective order being filed against him, which was issued the same day as their arrest for child endangerment. Details regarding their court appearances and any additional bond information have yet to be publicly disclosed. However, both Gyuricza and Broadway were booked into the Harris County Jail, as FOX 26 Houston's coverage points out.
