The Hawai‘i Island police are actively searching for Brian Riggs, a 47-year-old man who has been reported missing since November 28. Riggs was last seen on Welea Street in Pahoa on November 25 around 6:00 a.m., apparently on his way to a known fishing spot within the North Kohala district, according to a bulletin released by the Hawaii Police Department.
Sightings of Riggs continued up until the late afternoon of Tuesday, where he was spotted at Waiakailio Bay operating a white 2006 Hummer H3, Hawaii license plate PTX698, police are still piecing together his movements past this point and urge anyone with any bit of information to step forward. Riggs is described as a fair-complexioned man, standing around 6 feet tall and weighing roughly 230 pounds, with hazel eyes, and is mostly bald but for some brown stubble. Distinctively, he has a squirrel tattoo on the inside of each leg and has scars, one above his left eye, another on his inner left arm, as reported by the Hawaii Police Department.
The authorities are seeking the community's assistance to find Riggs, who seems to have vanished without clear cause or trail beyond the Bay area sighting. They've opened their non-emergency line for anyone who might have seen him or knows where he might be, with the request to call (808) 935-3311 with any potentially useful information. While the specific circumstances of his disappearance are still unknown, the Hawaii Police Department places the safety and timely locating of Riggs as a priority.
