In a recent update from the sheriff's office, they unveiled an "Automated Abandoned Callback system." This move, as detailed on their social media, is poised to safeguard against missed emergency calls. The new system is part of a suite of community initiatives spotlighted in the sheriff's "Witt’s Weekly Roundup" — an effort to share the department's activities with the public.
Apart from tech upgrades, Sheriff Dave Hutchinson, also known as Sheriff Witt, has been actively engaging with various community segments. According to Hennepin County Sheriff's Office Facebook post, the sheriff conversed about public safety with students at Normandale Community College, and discussed leadership with The Rotary Club of Minneapolis. The commitment to fostering stronger community ties didn't end in the classroom or at the podium. Deputies distributed food to families in need and saw a delight in children dressed as their law enforcement heroes while attending Halloween events.
