As December approaches, Hilliard invites you to embrace the holiday spirit at its 36th annual Tree Lighting event, scheduled for December 1 in Downtown Hilliard. The tree lighting will highlight family-friendly activities from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Attendees can look forward to an evening filled with music, treats, and holiday characters. Festivities will include performances by local school choirs and a variety of street performers. The schedule features the Hilliard Youth Choir at 4 p.m., followed by the Scioto Darby 1st Grade Choir and the Hilliard Darby Polyphonic Choir. Their voices herald the tree lighting from 5:50 to 6:15 p.m. As noted on the official event page, the tree lighting is poised to illuminate the evening at 6:15 p.m.
In addition to the ceremonial lighting, other highlights include a cooking station, horse and carriage rides, and an interactive snow globe. Santa and his elves are slated to appear, ensuring a magical experience for the young and the young at heart. Hilliard will also celebrate the receipt of Ohio Magazine's Best Hometown Award alongside the evening's merrymaking.
Parking for the event is free, with spots available at several designated locations, including the Franklin County Fairgrounds and the Makoy Center. Limited handicapped parking will be available near the event space. Road closures will impact Main Street from Franklin Street to Norwich Street, among others, so planning your route ahead of time is advisable.
