A fire broke out in a Hollywood home early this morning, leading to the rescue of a family's pets. Hollywood Fire Rescue crews arrived at the scene in the 6200 block of Arthur Street at around 9:45 a.m. The firefighters battled the blaze and saved an adult dog, two puppies, and a turtle. The animals were given oxygen following their rescue, and officials have confirmed that all were safe, as reported by NBC Miami.
Patrick Tsetsakis, the homeowner, expressed his relief to NBC Miami that his pets, Bear, Daisy, and Amy were rescued, but was distraught over the loss of his children's mementoes. "Photos of when they were younger are in there, and that's all we've got, and both of them are disabled, so it would be nice to get them," Tsetsakis stated. The family was in the process of selling the home and relocating to St. Augustine, and unfortunately, they do not have insurance to cover the damages.
Further details provided by WSVN revealed that a neighbor, Pam Gregory, was the one who saw the fire and alerted authorities. The home had been undergoing remodeling efforts in preparation for sale. Tsetsakis recounted receiving the alarming news from neighbors, saying, "It was scary because you know I’ve been working real hard to get it remodeled and we were just about to list it this week."
While the cause of the fire is still under investigation, support for the family is underway with a GoFundMe campaign set up to aid their recovery. As reported by WSVN, concerned individuals may contribute to the fund to help the Tsetsakis family rebuild after this unfortunate incident. In the meantime, the house suffered extensive damage, although no human injuries were reported.
